How To Choose and Accessorize Short Party Dresses

Friday, 7 August 2015 /

The trend is ,  that short dresses have become one of the hottest trends. Although we don't have Prom yet in India, but we sure do have those occasions that allow us the over the knee flick for girly night outs too. Besides being more comfortable and flirty, they allow you to be able to dance around easily without tripping. From designers like Sherri Hill, Mori Lee, and Jovani, you'll find endless choices of little black dresses, princess-styled tulle skirts, or snug and fitted dresses.

This post is dedicated to finding the best possible dress and how to pair them with stunning accessories too.
Tips  for Choosing Short (Prom) Dresses:
As you begin perusing your love for short prom dresses for 2016, keep these tips in mind so that you
accentuate the best parts of your body.

  •  Remember to keep your body type in mind. Taller girls can get away with many hemlines, but if you are short, aim for dresses that hit right above or at the knee. This will allow more skin to show and make you look taller.  The high-low hemline also looks very flattering and is super trendy this year, like some of Jovani's taffeta cocktail dresses available in colours like hot pink, purple, and emerald.
  • Consider buying a little black dress. Every girl can use the versatile black cocktail dress, especially if you choose the traditional A-line style. It typically features a slim bodice and a flared, A-shaped skirt, which flatters your best curves. It works for every type of figure from skinny and short to those more voluptuous, while looking fun and sexy. Many of Alyce Paris, Hannah S, and Sherri Hill's designs feature flirty little black dresses, complete with the sweetheart neckline, flared chiffon skirt, and beaded bodice.
  • Select a unique prom dress that shows your personality. Choose dresses with a little sparkle but not an overpowering amount. If you select a patterned dress, choose one with small prints instead of large ones because larger floral prints as they make you appear larger, while smaller ones drape and flatter your curves.
  • Remember to cover-up and look modest. Check the length of your dress with your fingertips, making sure it is longer than mid-thigh. Check the length of your dress by bending over and touching our toes to see how far the skirt rides up while avoiding deep plunging or V-necklines.

 Tips for Accessorizing Shorter Dresses
  • Find dressy and comfortable shoes to coordinate with your dress. If  the dress is really short you don't have the option of kicking of your shoes and dancing barefoot or in a pair of ballet slippers. Therefore, choose a pair of strappy sandals that sparkle and that you can walk around in without blistering your toes.
  •  Style your hair loosely if you're looking for a cute, flirty vibe . However, if you prefer more a vintage glamorous style, curl your locks into bouncy curls, and then pin them up and attach a glittery clip or decorative hair pins.
  •  Decide what you want to accent. If you want everyone to focus on your face or bare shoulders, consider pairing a choker with some dangly earrings. Finish the look with your make-up, subtly done, with an extra pop of color on your lips.
