Am trying to think how many blazers I have ? To start with , my first coat was burgundy and then came the black, and white . For years, and for a person who did not come from a fashion background, and worked a 9-5 shift, I did not feel the need to add more blazers in my wardrobe, coz fashion wasn't a weekly thing, and it wasn't a challenge to wear blazers back then. We kept them for fairly conservative space like meetings, formal events , and there were better staples in life to fill our storage than the need to invest in blazers.
Until the late 19th century, women preferred to wear cape style coats . Mink blazers were the first out of the league that represented the wearer from luxury Clan.
Back then fashion still demanded that clothing to be worn as per occasion, and growing number of working women, needed blazers that could be worn to office, which particularly led to development of a few basic styles, that are relevant even today. For eg. the classic trench, the double breasted and the suit jacket etc.
After the World War II Haute Couture aimed at bringing revolutionary styles in blazers, and the coat's length followed the length of the dresses and skirts, hence they became really short (source wikipedia)
Today's women doesn't fail to experiment. Talk about online awareness, the ladies are drawn to thrilling collision of trends and the blazer has gone beyond the boundaries of corporate rooms and power suits.
If you are one of those who don't think blazers from a fashion point of view, pause and have an afterthought about places you can take this versatile garment to. A lot of our A-list celebrities are turning heads and declaring fashion moments after moments with blazers. From Red carpet, to airports, to fifth avenue and from Capes, to Shearlings to pleated and even lab style , Blazers have been spotted endlessly around the globe , and the inspiration is plenty.
What's even more innovative is that our Indian designers have revamped the whole blazer notion and left us in a moment of Aww ....when they sent a few models running down the runway wearing blazers with Sarees ? Its official and clearly Blazer cannot give you a Faux Pas moment even if you wound up working from home .
Today I have teamed up with Stalk Buy Love , to show you how I wore a blazer to a girl's brunch on one foggy Sunday morning. This is Part 1 of my blazer edition for winters, and Part 2 is on its way, just to show you girls how a blazer can uplift any outfit ,be it jeans or even a wintery dress.
I have a soft spot for colour blocking, and today I brought these two colours from the same colour wheel into one outfit, teamed with the blazer in Christmas Red and these deep burgundy Dungarees, all from Stalk Buy Love. These burgundy oxfords also brought in the flavour and a sense of occasion beyond the humble over the knee socks into garnering a fun and flirty Outdoorsiness casual vibe.
So ladies, If you haven't placed your faith in blazer till now to to take you around for a plenty of occasions, it's time that you do so now even if it means stealing that checkered oversize coat from your boyfriend's closet, or donning a solid party blazer over that dress.

I only own two blazers, as I rarely wear them. Probably because they are black and thus look very formal.
